Why do I feel that I am Different
1. My disciplined approach to helping clients prepare for the unexpected.
As a high school student preparing for college, I was surprised to learn that my father had financially mismanaged his optometry practice. He did not have an investment plan for our family while things were going well or a contingency plan for when his practice ran into financial problems. He hit multiple bumps in the road, and the ripple effect had a major impact on my college plans. I was going to have to find a job to help pay for expenses, something neither my father nor I had anticipated.
Having learned from this experience and others that life isn’t always a smooth path from here to there, I have developed a disciplined and structured approach to investment planning which takes into consideration potential financial pitfalls and unforeseen circumstances that life sometimes puts into our paths. My goal is to make certain that my clients have written plans that focus not only on the details of what they want to accomplish, but also address life’s unknowns – those potential bumps in the road that can impact their lives and the lives of their families.
2. The depth of relationships I build with clients, and how my understanding of their family situation is incorporated into the advice I provide.Realizing that clients want to be heard and not simply provided solutions, I take the time to ask the right questions – the ones that other advisors generally don’t ask – and gain a better understanding of who my clients are, what they want, and where they want to go.
I also recognize the importance of family dynamics and actively seek to incorporate all facets of those dynamics into the investment planning process.
I am generally able to build deeper relationships with my clients as I seek to keep current with ongoing family and life situations. And my commitment to them usually results in their commitment to me.
3. How my experience with women in transition enables me to understand the powerful impact of emotions and provide the care and guidance they need as they adjust to their new reality. After witnessing multiple divorces among immediate family members and close friends, as well as the burdens faced by clients who have been widowed early in life, I understand the painful emotions and major decisions they face. Drawing upon my education, compassion and insight, my goal is to provide them with proper care and advice, resulting in a path of understanding and clarity of choices. My clients know that I will help them at their pace, giving them the time they need to work through these life-changing transitions.
